Description:
This is a beautiful Verney Carron 16 gauge side-by-side shotgun. This one is particularly interesting as it is a seldom seen 16GA underlever hammer gun. Verney Carron is one of the finest gunmakers in the world. (See //youtube/watch?v=Wj1k2jMYhuc).
This shotgun was manufactured by Verney Carron in the early 1910s in Saint-Etienne, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. The exact year is unknown but we have an approximate age from direct correspondence with Jean Verney Carron. The proof marks show this shotgun is safe to use with modern shotshells.
This engraved firearm is in excellent condition and may have never been fired. Please see the pictures including the bright condition of the bore.
The sale also includes custom made black walnut case and custom Briley 28 Gauge Insert tubes (each tube is marked with the guns serial #37). The tubes include the following choke inserts: 2 S-41 SKT/.541 1 S-41 IC/.535 1 S-41 MOD/.529. The shogun weighs 6 pounds and 6 ounces, and the Briley insert tubes (together) weigh about 13 ounces.
