Description:
RARE SPRINGFIELD U.S. M-1 GARAND MK 2 MOD.1 NAVY 7.62 RIFLE, CIRCA 1942 WITH 1966 CONVERSION. Rare 7.62mm conversion of original 1942 made Springfield M-1 Garand. Designated the Mk 2 Mod. 0 (requires bushing) and the later Mk 2 Mod. 1(does not require bushing like this one and the barels were sleeved). Made for the U.S. Navy and only dated 1965-66. This one with SA barrel dated "3-66" along with "7.62 MM" as well(the Mk 2 Mod. 1's were rebarreled by SA instead of sleeve). Created to supplement the supply of M14 rifles on hand. M-1 Navys are very rare with this type being the rarest. Wood excellent and uncleaned with cartouche on left side. Correct SA trigger group. Works perfectly. All the original parkerizing remains. Has USGI cleaning tool in butt trap along with brush. Many of these were issued as match rifles and trophys to the Navy and USMC shooting teams. Aftermarket Military style sling like new. Works perfectly so hope you take out and try it. Be nice to have the soul of a WW2 rifle with the Vietnam era upgrade.
