Description:
Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are downright proud to offer this fine example of a William Evans double. Evans worked for Purdey's and Holland and Holland prior to starting his own gunmaking in 1883. With experience at two of the world's most respected gunmakers, his guns have also become held in high regard. This gun is a beauty, with classic lines and beautiful highly figured and checkered walnut. The blacking is deep and rich, with some thinning at carry points and muzzle. The barrel address is razor sharp, and the lever resides well to the right of center. The bores of the 30 inch tubes are great, with 7 and 16 thousandths of choke. The chambers are 2 1/2 inch, and extractors hoist the empties. The drops are 1 3/8ths and 2 1/4 inches. The LOP is 15 inches including the English pad, 14 1/4 to the end of the wood. These double lug guns lock up tight, and will stay that way for a long time. Made in the year of our Lord 1905, this double does not look 114 years old. Only light handling marks can be found. The case is worn, but fairly solid, including the straps. If you have been looking for the right English famous maker double to collect, classic shooting, or for investment, or just want the name Purdey on a gun without spending 5 figures, then look no further.
