This early model features an unusual bolt release system on the left side of the receiver. There is some minor wear but nothing notable. The action operates very smoothly. The bore is in excellent condition with no rust or pitting. This example has a removable flash hider held on by a screw as the barrel is non-threaded. Fortunate, this allowed for easy photography of the bore. Normally, the flash hider on the barrel acts as a stand-off device that prevents the camera from getting a good view of the bore. Overall condition is excellent. The Ruger only covers 1978-2004 production for the original Mini-14 model. The Mini-14 started production in 1975, so their is missing the first three years of production. I would say this rifle was likely produced in 1976 if not in the first year. The Mini-14 has always been a popular rifle, particularly for hunting coyote or other large varmints. This example would make a nice addition to any Ruger collection.
