Description:
Model 1842 Sprigfield musket in very good plus Cond., near fine. All metal parts are smooth with good finish and some expected pitting in bolster area. Gun appears to have been cleaned some decades ago but has a nise aged look. Lock plate has sharp markings and an 1844 date, fist year of production. Bore is very good. Stock is untouched but in great Cond. and two cartouches on left flat. Breech has N.J. proof marks and V.P. eagle head. No tang date. Gun is in perfect working order. Bayonet is very good and patina matches the gun. Sling is also very good and maker stamped. Correct ramrod. Call for details
