Bought new by the original owner, this pre-ban Colt Match HBAR Sporter .223 caliber AR-15 was test fired only and then put into storage until now. It is in spectacular all-original condition. The Match HBAR Sporter was introduced in 1986 by Colt and featured a an A2 style fixed carry handle with adjustable rear sight, a 20" inch chrome-lined heavy barrel with a 1 in 7" twist rate, and a fixed buttstock and round ventilated forearm. While Colt continued to manufacture this model after the assualt weapons ban, any rifle with a serial number below MH 086020 is pre-ban. This particular example is serial number MH 071140, well below the pre-ban cut-off. The original factory "Colt Gray" finish on this Match HBAR is beautiful and rates 98 to 99% with no finish wear, only some very minor handling/storage marks that are only visible under close inspection. The bore in this rifle is mirror-bright and pristine, with no visible imperfections and sharp lands and grooves in the rifling. The original fixed black standard buttstock is in excellent condition, and the ventilated round black forearm set is also like-new. All of the controls on this Colt are in perfect working order, and the internals of this rifle are just as clean as the exterior. This Colt comes with one original pre-ban 20-round factory magazine. It would be nearly impossible to upgrade from this vintage beauty. This vintage pre-ban Colt Match HBAR Sporter would be an excellent addition to any gun collection, and should be an excellent long-term investment.
