Description:
Winchester Model 1910 .401 Winchester semi automatic rifle, dated to 1910, first year of production for this rifle, with a 3XX serial number. This rifle features a fine blued finish, with smooth walnut furniture, and a unique semi automatic mechanism that is cycled by a push-rod at the front of the forend. The rod can be turned when depressed, which will lock the bolt in rearward position. The rifle is a takedown, and via a simple thumb screw on the rear of the reciever, the gun splits into two pieces, ideal for transport. The rifle is in truly great original condition, especially considering it's 109 years old. The rifle has some signs of use, handling marks, etc, in addition to some small fractures in the forend, which appear to be stable. The action mechanism functions perfectly, and the bore looks superb. A lyman rear aperture sight was fitted onto the receiver at one point, and a small compass was inletted into the stock as well (quite popular back in the day). This a wonderful collectible with lots of character, it would make a wonderful addition to your collection, or perhaps a fine candidate for a professional restoration!
