Description:
General Specs: Fox, Year 1930, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 6oz, Chokes SK/IC, LOP 15", DAH 2 3/8", DAC 1 9/16"
Serial Number: 367792

Here we have a great upgraded Fox by David VandenBrand of West Olive, MI.  Dave has been upgrading Classic American Doubles for his clients for over two decades, and some of them are commissioning new work with Dave and passing on their earlier custom guns for sale to the public.  Dave’s work is beyond expectations, and the internals of the guns he upgrades are fully inspected and in top working order.  This is a non-ejector 16ga. Sterlingworth that has been restored, embellished with simple, clean engraving, restocked with fabulous 4X English walnut with a straight grip, splinter forearm and gorgeous skeleton butt plate.  The barrels are 28” with 99% rust blue, tight ribs that ring true, 2 ¾” chambers with extended cones, chokes opened to .003/.010 which is Skeet/IC, mirror bores that measure .559 internal diameter (have not been honed or back bored), barrels are tight on face and hinge and have had tasteful engraving to the breech area added.  The receiver has 99% new bone and charcoal case color.  Rex Pedersen, who was the President of the Firearm Engravers Guild of America, executed the scroll engraving on the sides and floor plate, a nice German Shorthair Pointer on the bottom of the receiver, and the gun has excellent screws, double triggers, auto safety, engraved trigger guard, and has been completely cleaned and properly lubricated, ready for another decade before needing cleaned again.  The wood is perfectly mated to the metal work with excellent wood to metal fit, fine line checkering well executed, and a fully figured straight gripped stock that ends in an elegant engraved skeleton butt plate.  The LOP is 15”, drop at heel 2 5/16”, drop at comb 1 9/16” for great shooting dimensions.  The fine oil finish is like new with only a tiny mark here or there.

This beautiful shotgun is perfect for upland birds or sporting clays, even a round of skeet with its open chokes and fast handling characteristics.  At 6lbs. 4oz. it is wonderfully balanced and has taken many Michigan grouse for its former owner.  The Fox action and barrels make a wonderful platform to build a custom gun, and you will find that anything that David VandenBrand is involved in is meticulously completed with pride and skill.  A fine investment gun that you can shoot and enjoy.  Thanks for looking!
