Here is a one of a kind, Browning BAR rifle in .458 Win Mag, a project gun for Guns and Ammo Magazine and built by Bill Atkinson of Atkinson Gun Company in Prescott, AZ back in the early 70's. The gun has serial #0001. G&A technical editor Jack Lott reported in detail on the build project in the September 1974 issue of G&A of which a copy is provided along with this rifle. It has one magazine. The rifle has a replacement barrel and remade action to handle the large magnum. The 22 inch barrel is ported to reduce the felt recoil which in this eight pound semi-auto is already greatly reduced compared to a bolt action gun. This rifle has a Redfield peeps sight installed, is tapped for scope mounting, and has very nice upgraded wood furniture. There is a repaired shallow crack in the forend that was repaired some years ago and has never been an issue according to the owner of the gun who's used it in Africa several times.
