SCARCE HOLSTERED Civil War Ethan Allen Revolver
.32 Caliber Revolver with ORIGINAL Leather HOLSTER!
Here we present an antique Ethan Allen & Co. Sidehammer .32 Rimfire Revolver, made from circa 1864, with its original leather flap field holster. Only about 1,000 were produced, making it a very scarce revolver, indeed. Little 6-shot revolvers like this were quite handy in their day. They could be concealed in a pocket or a purse very easily and have just enough firepower to scare someone away to get away yourself. Little pocket pistols like this were commonly purchased by soldiers heading off to the fighting in the Civil War.
This example bears Ethan Allen & Co.’s name as well as an 1861 patent date. The holster is black leather with a flap that can be fastened to protect the gun from the elements. The bottom of the grips has been modestly decorated with brass tacks.
The overall condition is good. The iron parts have a gray patina. The markings are legible. The walnut grips are in good shape with a small crack on the left panel. The bore is in good shape with visible rifling. The action is excellent. The holster is in good condition.
