Description:
The Officer’s Model Match represents the fifth and final variation of the Officer’s Model revolver introduced all the way back in 1904. The Officer’s Model was built using the Army Special or Colt “E-frame”. This was the medium sized frame Colt used at the time. The Officer’s Model Match was introduced in 1953 and was produced until 1969. According to the Colt serial number database, this O.M.M. left the factory in 1961, literally in the middle of the production run. It is one of a small number chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge rather than the standard .38 Special. Colt offered .22 LR-chambered examples of most of its revolver models, but they were never as common as those chambered for the primary cartridges. The .22 versions effectively function as cost-effective target or practice revolvers, effectively filling the same function as a S&W Model 17 or 18. This was useful combination for a variety of reasons. The heavy weight for the caliber meant the when fired the .22 revolver barely recoiled compared to the standard chambering resulting in very high accuracy. This made 22-caliber medium frame revolver useful for target shooters, gun owners looking to shoot inexpensively, varmint hunters looking to take down an animal with little noise and little damage to the pelt, police officers practicing their shooting skills, and people looking to get into shooting and learning how to shoot a firearm. The revolver is in excellent condition. There is minor muzzle wear on the barrel but the O.M.M. otherwise retains its entire finish. The bore is in pristine condition with no rust or pitting, and on top of that is very clean. The Officer’s Model Match would make an excellent shooter.
