This is a very beautiful high-condition and 100% original Browning ATD 22 rifle in .22 Short that comes complete with a period Redfield 4X Rimfire Scope. This Belgian-made rifle was made in 1961 and appears to have spent most of it's life in storage. The 16-shot(.22 short) or 10-shot(.22 LR) ATD 22 semi-auto take-down rifle was first introduced in 1956 and manufactured at FN Browning's Belgian factory until 1974. These quick take-down rifles featured a gloss blue factory finish, a grooved receiver for optics, a checkered pistol grip stock, a semi-beavertail forearm, an adjustable folding rear sight, and a tube magazine located inside the buttstock that was loaded from a right-side mounted port in the buttstock. The .22 Short models featured a longer barrel length of 22" inches and were much lower production than the Long Rifle models, making them sought-after by collectors today. This particular example in .22 Short is in excellent original condition. The original factory finish is beautiful and rates 98% plus. The bore in this Browning is mirror-bright and in mint condition. The original stock set is in excellent condition as well, with both parts free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/dents. Only under extremely close inspection can one find a few tiny handling marks in the wood. The original gloss clearcoat finish on both the forearm and buttstock is 100% intact and crystal clear. All of the controls on this Browning are in perfect working order and the action is slick and clean. This Browning will function just as well today as the day it left the factory. As mentioned earlier, this ATD 22 comes with a very nice period Redfield 4 power rimfire scope already mounted on it. These Redfield scopes are quite nice and collectible in their own right. This Redfield has bright and clear optics and is in perfect working order. It should hold zero perfectly. If you have been looking for a "collector grade" Belgian Browning ATD 22 in .22 short, here is your chance to get one of the cleanest and most attractive examples we have seen in years.
