Description:
Designed in the early 1950's by two Czech brothers for the Czechoslovakian Military, there were approx. 200,000 of these pistols built between 1952 and 1954.  The pistol proved to be an reliable, accurate, and powerful sidearm, and had a very long military service life of 30 years before being replaced by the 9mm Makarov pistol in 1982.  The rather large CZ Model 52 uses a semi-automatic roller-locked short-recoil action to handle the hot 7.62 Tokarev cartridge, and uses a 8-round detachable box magazine.  The Model 52 was finished in either a gray oxide or parkerized finish and features grooved Bakelite grips, fixed sights with a notched blade rear, a frame-mounted thumb safety, and weighs around 2 pounds unloaded.  This particular example is a 1st year production gun that is in excellent all-original condition.  The finish is the early-production gray oxide rather than being parkerized, and it has never been rebuilt or refinished in the 1970's like many we encounter.  The factory gray oxide finish rates 96% plus with little to no visible wear.  The bore in this pistol is excellent, mirror-bright with sharp rifling and with no visible pitting, erosion, or imperfections.  The original Bakelite grips are also in excellent condition, showing only a few tiny handling marks and free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage.  The slide to frame fit is excellent, and all of the controls on this CZ are in perfect working order.  When worked by hand the slide works smoothly and precisely, and goes into battery perfectly.  All of the numbered parts are matching including the slide, barrel, and frame.  This CZ Model 52 should shoot just as reliably and accurately today as the day it left the factory, and it comes complete with 2 original 8-round magazines.  If you have been looking for an exceptional all-original and non-rebuilt CZ Model 52 for your collection this 1952 example would be a superb choice.  It would be nearly impossible to upgrade from this one!
