Description:
Documented U.S. David F. Clark Inspected Colt Single Action Army Cavalry Revolver with Factory Letter. .45 LC Caliber, with a 7.5" barrel an excellent bright bore.
The accompanying factory letter states the revolver was one of 150 units sold to the U.S. Government and delivered to the U.S. inspector at the Colt factory on December 14, 1885. The top of the barrel has the one-line Hartford address, the frame has the three-line patent dates marking followed by "U.S.", and the David F. Clark sub inspection "DFC" stamp is located on the underside of the barrel, bottom of the frame, bottom of the grip, and cylinder. A "P" proof mark is found on the barrel and cylinder. The grip has the date "1885" stamped above a script letter cartouche on the left side and "DFC" on the bottom. Matching serial numbers are on the frame, trigger guard, back strap, and cylinder. Last 4 digits of serial # "6867" are in barrel under the ejector housing. The overall condition of this nice revolver is
Very good , retaining bright original of blue on/around/under the ejector rod housing and faint traces of original case colors, otherwise a mottled brown/gray patina. There are a few scattered patches of pitting. The grip is very good with high edge wear, small chip near the bottom, some dings and faint cartouche.
