Description:
This is a very handsome and exceptionally clean Springfield M1 Garand that was originally built in December of 1954 or early 1955 during the Korean War era. It appears to have been arsenal re-worked at some point with the replacement of just a few small parts, the remainder of the gun and Parkerized finish is original. The Parkerized finish rates 96 to 97%, with only some very minor spots of finish wear, mainly on some of the high-edges. The original Springfield barrel which is dated 12-54 has a perfect, mirror-bright bore with no visible imperfections whatsoever. We gauged it with erosion gauges and it measured "like-new" at less than "1" at both the throat and at the muzzle. The original stock set is beautiful on this Garand, with perfectly matched handguards and no cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/dents. The D.O.D. Eagle cartouche is still nice and visible on the left side of the stock. All of the stock hardware is intact, tight, and in great shape, including the trap-door buttplate. All of the controls on this M1 Garand are in perfect working order, including the adjustable rear sight. The action on this Springfield is both slick, smooth, and precise. The bolt turns into battery perfectly without any slop, and the headspace is perfect. This M1 Garand should be exceptionally accurate and reliable, just as good or better than the day it originally left the factory in 1954. It comes with an original U.S.G.I. greensling that is dated 05-55 in excellent condition. If you have been looking for a great-looking U.S. Military M1 Garand for your collection that should also be a superb shooter, this Korean War era Springfield would be the perfect choice.
