Description:
German S/42 Marked P.08 Luger Pistol By Mauser.
Serial #604y, 9 mm, 4" barrel with a bright very good bore which shows strong rifling but minor frosting in the grooves. The metal surfaces retain about 90-92% original blue, the loss is due primarily to muzzle wear to pewter and some light high edge wear at the leading edges of the frame as well as the contact points. There is some light brown oxidation staining and perhaps very light pitting at the left front of the frame and some light toning to plum on the straps. The chamber is 1937 dated and the toggle S/42-marked. All of the visibly numbered parts are matching, including the grooved firing pin. The checkered walnut grips rate very good with some minor flattening of the points and a very minor impact mark here or there, the right grip is numbered to the gun, both exhibit the same inspectors markings. Included with the gun is a single blued-bodied aluminum base magazine numbered "4500u". A pleasing and honest example overall.
