Description:
Colt Model 1900 38 acp (38 auto) was the first commercial semiauto pistol produced in the U.S. This is rare as only 4274 were produced - a must for an early Colt auto collection. Comes with a Colt archive letter and a red metal box and old stock hang tag from the Norvell Shapleigh Hardware Co. St Louis, MO  where it was shipped with seven others on June 21, 1902.

Sight safety is altered. The matching slide is numbered "4225" to the frame. Original mag with the base marking "PAT'D SEPT 9 1884". It has the concave takedown plug. Bronze firing pin, round stub hammer with hand checkering and front plunge milled serrations. Grips are original and fine. There is an inspectors marking "K" on the right trigger guard which is repeated twice on the front right forward frame.

Left side is marked: PATENTED APR 20, 1897. SEPT 9, 1902       COLT'S PT FA MFG CO   HARTFORD CT USA with an uncircled rampant Colt in the rear. This is consistant with the 1902 military markings after 1913 - see Doug Sheldon's book page 102.

Although the finish is not great, all the markings are deep and legible - not NIB but a good representative piecefor a rare early Colt semiauto pistol

Contact me wth any questions. I want the new caretaker of this rare pistol to be happy. Also see my other listings of early Colt autos.
