This is the first of several guns I will list on this site. Those of you that collect double rifles are aware that not many double rifles carry the name W&C. Scott or Webley & Scott. This isn't because they did not make them. On the contrary, they made them for dozens of other firms and retailers. Including Holland & Holland. Scott rifles were mostly numbered in a separate serial number range. The records for rifles were lost in a fire in 1945. Scott stopped making rifles in 1929. The serial number of this gun (13763) makes it one of the last built. The serial number range for rifles ended at 14000. This gun was likely made between 1925 & 1929. Only 150 Scott guns of all types were made between 1925 & 1929. This may be the only Scott Double rifle in caliber 30 Government to exist., The photos help to describe the gun but they do not do it justice. ( I am not good at taking gun pictures) I will start by saying that the finishes are all original! Blueing on barrels is 98%, Some wear on high edges and near muzzle, Blue on trigger guard 94%, Metal buttplate 98%. Other blued parts 98-100%. Case coloring is 100%, somewhat subdued on the side plates but quite vivid elsewhere. Wood rates 98%, all finish. Very few small handling marks. No cracks, dents, or chips. Checkering is sharp and clean. Done in the period flat-top pattern. Bores are like new, bright and shiny, deep lands and grooves, Gun closes smoothly like it did when new. Lock-up is tight as new. On face, no movement with or without the fore end attached. Top lever still right of center Ejectors Function perfectly and are" in time" Solid Flat, hand filed rib, 3 leaf rear sight, 100-300 Yds, Hooded ramp front sight with pop-up :moonsight. The gun came with a Trunk Case, the original case is gone. The gun is currently housed in a high quality pigskin leather case with machined brass fitings. I have not fired this gun, so I can not offer specific load info. An obvious advantage of shooting a rifle in 30-06 caliber is the cost of ammo. If you are inclined to shoot this gun you could afford various ammo till you get the groups you want. That can be a challenge if you were shooting a 470 Nitro express! I believe this gun to be priced reasonably due to its condition and rarity. If you compare this gun to other double rifles on this , I think you will agree. Having said that, I am willing to listen to reasonable offers. At 75 years of age I am selling my collection, and therefore I am not interested in trades. Shipping must be to an FFL. Shipping is $100. The gun will be fully insured. This gun has an interesting history. I will provide that history plus documentation from Griffin & Howe I will gladly answer your questions. Please call Jim at (248) 266-6494. Due to telemarketers I sometimes don't pick-up. Leave a message. I will return all messages, Thanks for looking at my ad. Whoever gets this gun will be very happy!
