Rare COLT Model 1905 45 acp manufactured in 1907 and shipped to Wyeth Hardware, St Joseph, MO on 10/12/1907 in a shipment of 5 pistols. Only about 6210 Model 1905's were produced - the first commercial 45's by Colt and John Browning (the inventor).
Serial number 2516, comes with the Colt archive letter, a copy of Wyeth Hardware letterhead correspondence and original old stock Wyeth price tag stamps.
Per John Potocki's book, THE COLT MODEL 1905 AUTOMATIC PISTOL, this #2516 has the correct left slide markings: PATENTED APR 20, 1897 SEPT 9, 1902 DEC 19, 1905 COLT'S PATENT FIRE ARMS MFG CO HARTFORD CONN USA with a circled rampant Colt.
The right slide is marked: AUTOMATIC COLT CALIBRE 45 RIMLESS SMOKELESS
Also present is the veified proof "VP" marking, "K" assembler George Donovan, "6" inspector James Donlin, "W" and "4".
Checkered walnut diamond checkered grips are correct, but notice a small crack on the right above the screw ferrule. I believe everything is correct and original. I've shot this with light loaded 200 gr 45acp - shoots and functions well.
