Scott 8 bore "Heavy Wildfowl" Gun.this is one of the finest guns I have ever had in over 40 years of collecting Scott guns. The majority of l arge bore doubles made by Scott did not carry their name. The big guns retailed by. J.W. Tolley, R.B. Rodda, E.M. Reilly, WM. Evans and dozens of others were made by Scott. The gun was made in 1881. The second set of bbls (10 bore) was made and fitted by Scott between 1881 and 1897. Both sets have the London address at Regent Circus St. Both are stamped serial number 29486. The 10 ga set is not stamped with the "not for ball" marking. They are choked cyl & cyl. Length is a bit over 32 inches. This 10 ga set weighs a "wopping" six and one/half pounds! The wall thickness at the breech is over 1/4 inces thick! The 8 bore barrels are 36 inches long. I do not know what the ckokes .are. The 8 bore set has the early style wedge type fore end release. The 10 bore set has the later Scott lever type. Both sets of bbls are tight on the face. Bores are bright and shiny. This gun has received a "sensitive restoration. The barrels were re-browned in the correct "black & white" type by Brad Batchelder. The stock received a fresh oil finish and a new recoil pad by Keith Kearcher, Case coloring is original, fading but strong in some areas. This gun has a massive frame and yet the overall look of the gun puts it all in proportion. I have priced this gun reasonably, neverheless I am willing to listen to "reasonable" offers. Price is $6900. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Call Jim at (248) 266-6494 (This gun is sold pending funds.) SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: W&C. Scott & Sons.
