The Smith & Wesson Model 659 is a heavy-duty all stainless steel pistol chambered in 9mm. It was manufactured between 1979 and 1988 and features a DA/SA semi-automatic design, a 15-rd high capacity double-stack magazine, an adjustable rear combat-style sight, and an ambidextrous safety/decocking lever. The S&W Model 659 was one of the first high-capacity semi-auto service pistols made in the U.S.A. and were used by many law enforcement agencies across the country. This example is in very good overall condition, and has had a custom spring kit and custom tuned-trigger installed by Impact Armory. The hammer spring is 16 pounds and the trigger breaks very nicely with a light and smooth pull, without any grit or excessive travel typical of these pistols. As you can see from the pictures the gun shows only some very minor handling/storage marks in the finish, and the bore is superb and clean. The rifling is nice and sharp throughout the barrel, and there is no visible erosion, pitting, or imperfections. The original factory grips are in excellent condition, free from any cracks, chips, or repairs. Both sides are perfectly fit to the gun and tight to the frame. All of the controls are in perfect working order, and the slide to frame fit is excellent. When worked by hand the action on this Smith is smooth and precise, and at lock-up the barrel is tight with no play. We have no doubt that this Model 659 would make an excellent shooter, very reliable and extremely accurate. If you have been looking for an affordable yet high-quality new range toy or home defense weapon, this vintage Smith & Wesson Model 659 would be a perfect choice.
