Description: General Specs: Winchester, Year 1946/47, 7 mm, Weight 8lbs 4oz Serial Number: 67777 Model 70 collectors...THIS IS A COLLLECTOR'S DREAM! First let me start out by declaring this gun is original and legitimate Winchester Model 70 Carbine in 7 mm Mauser. It is NOT a made-up gun. I say this because of the rarity of this find. There were 581,000 pre-64 Model 70’s produced, and only 1470 of them, or .25%, were built in 7mm. That is what makes the Model 70 in 7mm such a sought-after rifle. Now, when we look at the fact that it is a bonafide carbine (not a cutdown rifle barrel or rebarreled gun as evidenced by the forged-into-the-barrel front sight ramp with Winchesters polishing marks intact) we have just entered the EXTREMELY RARE zone of collecting Winchester Model 70’s, as only 1.25% of all Model 70 were produced as carbines with factory 20” barrels. Do the math calculation of 1.25% of the 1470 total M70’s produced in 7mm and we come up with about 19 total 7mm carbines ever made. Not only is this an extremely rare M70, but it is flat out factory original in every way, including 99% factory blue and wood finish, perfect checkering… a mint, rare, desirable Model 70, sn67777 made in 1946/47 during the transition period of changes in style. The photos will show the supreme condition of the metal and wood. There is also a photo of the caliber stamping and date stamping at the base of the barrel as it enters the action clearly showing the 7mm mark and the ’46 as the year the barrel was made. The wood has only a few tiny handling marks, unaltered since leaving the factory with the original checkered steel buttplate and factory sling swivels intact, and much better figure than the usual M70. THIS RIFLE HAS IT ALL...RARITY, DESIRABILITY, AND CONDITION; THE PERFECT QUALITIES FOR THE STRONGEST INVESTMENT QUALITY FIREARM. Don't hesitate, as this is likely the only Model 70 you will ever see in this configuration and condition, certainly the finest Model 70 Carbine in 7mm I have ever owned. Thanks for looking!
