NAPOLEONIC Antique Weyersberg INFANTRY Sword
French Army Sidearm for the Infantry
Here we present an antique Weyersberg and Kirschbaum French Infantry Briquet Sword, made in Solingen, Germany circa the early 19th Century. Weyersberg was essentially a family sword-making dynasty. This family is recorded as making swords as early as the 1400s and was located near Solingen, Germany. Their maker’s mark is on the ricasso. This sword would have been a relatively light, short weapon for a last ditch fight.
The overall condition is good. The blade is 26 inches in length and dark with age. Still quite sharp. The brass hilt is in good condition, showing appropriate wear for the age and use. The black leather scabbard is in good shape with tight stitching and hardware.
