Description:
Very seldom do we encounter these Remington Model 241 Speedmaster rifles in such beautiful condition like this one.  The Remington Model 241 Speedmaster was made in both .22 Short and .22 LR from 1935 to 1951, as the replacement to the Model 24. The Model 241 is a take-down semi-auto rimfire rifle design based off of Browning's design.  It was offered in a blue finish or chrome plated from the factory, and featured a 23.5" inch barrel with factory iron sights.  The Model 241 Speedmaster was moderately successful for Remington commercially, but certainly was a well-made and accurate .22 rifle.  This particular example is serial number 98522 and was made in June of 1947 (barrel date code "PSS").  It remains in 100% original and all-matching condition, just like the day it left the factory.  The beautiful factory blue finish rates 96%, with the only deductions for some very minor handling and storage marks.  As you can see from the pictures, none of these deductions detract much from the exceptionally clean look of this rifle.  The bore in this Speedmaster is minty and mirror-bright.  The rifling is still sharp and strong, and there is no visible pitting, erosion, or imperfections.  The original smooth Walnut stock set is in excellent condition overall.  The Walnut shows some minor dings/dents and handling marks, but is free from any eyesores like cracks, chips, or repairs.  All of the original stock hardware is still in place and in great shape, including the original factory checkered buttplate.  All of the controls on this Remington are in perfect working order, and the internals are just as clean and free from wear as the exterior.  The action feels smooth and precise.  This Remington should still function perfectly if the new owner chooses to fire it.  If you have been looking for a beautiful all-original Speedmaster for your collection here is your chance to get one of the nicest examples we have seen in years.
