Description:
British gun makers made few small bore guns in the 1880's. In over 40 years of collecting Scott guns I have seen only 3 Scott 20 bores. I bought 2 out of the 3 and this is the pride of my collection.
Before I get into specifics I believe this gun to be all original. It retains 95% of its original finishes though those finishes have patinated from age. Interested buyers should note that the forend latch and trigger guard were case colored, not blued. The Scott factory did this on a lot of their guns.
Specifics;
Manufactured in 1881
Damascus BBLs are 26 inches long.
Chokes are R= Cylinder, L = Modified
Weight is 5 & 3/4 pounds.
LOP is 14&1/4 inches long.
Drop at comb is 1&3/4 inches/
Original Horn butteplate with "widows peak" & engraved screw heads.
Bores are bright and shiny (no rust or pitting)
This gun has not been "tinkered" with. The finishes are 95% or more though they have muted or patinated from age.
The wood has some handling marks, checkering is sharp.
Thi gun opens and closes like new.
The gun is tight and "on face" with or without the forend attached.
Screws appear to be untouched since installed at the factory.
This gun is rare, and a great buy for any collector of British Small bore shotguns
