Description:
First introduced in 1963, the gas operated semi-automatic Remington Model 1100 shotgun quickly became one of America's favorite shotguns.  The gas-operated action quickly proved to be very reliable and soft-shooting, making the Model 1100 very pleasant to shoot.  The Model 1100 remained in continuous production for many decades, with variations being produced as late as 2014.  This particular example has a date code of "RK" on the barrel, making it's date of manufacture during the first year of production in 1963.  It is a very nice, lightly-used 12 gauge model with a 30" inch ventilated rib barrel that is choked "Modified".  The original gloss-blue factory finish rates 90% plus, with only some minor handling marks and spots of light finish wear.  The bore in this Remington is excellent, mirror-bright with no pitting, bulges, dents, or imperfections of any kind visible.  The gloss-finished and press-checkered original stock set is free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage, showing only light handling marks and small dings consistent with the rest of the shotgun.  The original factory-installed pistol grip cap and buttplate are still in place and both are in good condition.  The buttstock has not been altered and the length of pull is still the original 14.25" inches to the end of the buttplate.  All of the controls on this Remington are in perfect working order, and the action still slams home into battery with authority.  We have no doubt that it will function perfectly, although it may need a new rubber o-ring gas seal soon.  Those can be found online for a few dollars and every Model 1100 owner should have a spare or two on hand.  If you have been looking for a nice original Remington Model 1100 for your collection as a shooter/investment, this first year production gun would be an excellent choice.
