Description:
I imported this Behemoth from England after purchasing it from Holt's. This gun was made by W&C. Scott for the Army & Navy Cooperative. It was then sold to a Stace EV. May in 1886 for 21 British Pounds Sterling.
The gun is mostly original, as are the finishes. The recoil pad is a replacement and the barrels may have been re-blacked in
England when the gun went under British re-proof.
Serial # is 4939. Scott used a separate number system than Army & Navy. Keep in mind that A&N did not make guns. W&C. Scott was their main supplier.
Some general specifications:
Weight is 12 pounds.
Barrels are 29 & 3/4 inches long.
Barrels stamped at flats near breech with (873)
Barrels mike-out at the muzzle at (.85)
The gun has been re-proofed in England for "Black Powder" ONLY!
Stamped 6 drams black powder, 2 & 1/8 ounces shot.
Beautiful "Tiger Stripe" walnut stock. (often called "fiddleback")
Case Color is 100%, muted some, but still nice. Blueing is 98%, barrels may have been re-blacked.
Screw heads are perfect.Hammers & locks are crisp.
Rebounding type hammers.
Jones Patent Underlever Action.
Typical Scott lever style forearm release.
Action extremely tight (as new)
!00% on face.
Bores are perfect (Bright & Shiny)
Stock has some handling marks (mostly from storage rather than use)
Checkering is sharp.
Engraving is sharp.
The recoil pad is a replacement and has a chip at the heel.
Their are some numbers stamped on one side of the stock, could be import numbers or inventory numbers.

This gun would be a fine addition to any "Big Bore" collection, or you could load some black powder rounds with ball and go after Elephant!
This gun is part of my 40 plus years W&C. Scott collection. My prices are all reasonable. I will listen to "reasonable" offers.
My price is $6900. Shipping is $125.   (PRICE REDUCED TO $5900. plus shipping!)SOLD.
You will not find a better British 8 bore for this amount of money.

I will answer any questions you may have. Call Jim at (248) 266-6494 (EST)
The gun does not require an FFL for shipping,(Pre-1898)
