A little bullet and lots of powder in the Weatherby Magnum case makes the muzzle velocity of this rifle very fast. Great for long distance shooting. For over 3/4 century Winchester has produced the model 70 and it sets the standard by which all other rifles are judged or attempted to be imitated.
This Winchester model 70 XTR Sporter is equiped with it all, starting with the caliber. This is a Winchester factory .270 Weatherby Magnum caliber rifle, not a re-chambered version. The metal has no rust anywhere and retains 100% of the factory original bluing.. The wood has no scratches, nicks, or mars and has a very high gloss finish. Just about too nice to take hunting; NAH !
Accuracy is achieved by sighting through the Leupold 3-9X Vari X II scope mounted with Leupold rings. To better manage the bang is a 2 1/2" compensator is mounted at barrel's end.
The adjustable MOA Trigger System exhibits zero take up, creep, and over-travel and currently set at 3 3/4 lb. pull but feels only half of that due to the fit and finish of the components.

The rifle I am selling has been pretty much a safe queen with very few rounds spent. New would be the only way to get nicer.
It comes with a hard case, recoil pad, Butler Creek sling, one box of twenty Weatherby Magnum Ultra Velocity Spire Point ammunition, 21 Weatherby spent cases, and 35 Spire Point reloaded rounds. Red display stand not included.
