Description:
This is a Savage model 99A SADDLE GUN with the 20" barrel in the hard to find 250-300 Sav. cal.. This gun has much better wood then seen on most of the Savage 99's from the 70's era , with nice feather crotch figure. There is a small stress fracture starting near the tang, which is rather common to these guns, but easily stabilized by a competent gunsmith or woodworker (I took a close photo which makes it look much worse then it really is). The only other blems to the wood are a couple pinpoint impressions on the left side. The metal is in 99% condition exhibiting strong case colors on the lever, and bright blue color coverage elswhere, with the exception of a small mark near the S/N. The gun is in totally original condition, retaining the original sight package, with the addition of a quality Browning scope base and rings. The bore is mint, and the action shows minimal wear. The S/N indicates a production date in the early to mid 70's. This is an excedingly hard little carbine to find in this caliber, especially in this condition with great wood.
