Description:
If Paul Revere had been a gunsmith instead of a silversmith, he would have made guns of this quality.  This finely crafted percussion pistol was actually made by Joseph Cooper of New York around 1830.  Mr. Cooper certainly had an eye for detail.  Consider the checkered burlwood stock, the silver and gold mountings, the casehardened lock,  the engraving found on the trigger guard and hammer, etc.  The pistol has an ebony cleaning rod with a silver tip, a 2.5 inch silver belt clip and a cap box with gold engraved lid.  The octagon barrel is 6 inches long and has gold bands at the breech end.  The maker's name is found on top of the barrel and on the lock.
This pistol is in fine conditon as seen in the photos.  The silver has darkened with age, but the gold is bright.  The stock is in excellent condition with beautiful wood grain.  The engraving and markings are clear.  The action is excellent.   This classic American percussion pistol will be an impressive addition to any fine gun collection.   Consult Rock Island archives for comparable pricing.
