Here is an excellent example of the superb and ultra scarce Pre War Model 70 in 300 Magnum (H&H) caliber. S/N 27*** with matching bolt made in 1940! This is the original .300 Magnum caliber and still considered by many to be the best of all. They were marked simply "300 Magnum" during initial production, since it was years later before any other 300s came on the scene, prompting the need to designate between them. This rifle is in excellent condition throughout and just beautiful. There are a few very light impressions in the wood, some light scratches or marks on barrel, and some blue wear on bottom metal at the carry point, but really superb considering its age. It features all correct factory installed components, original finishes and no extra drill holes. Barrel is 26" with an excellent bore. Mechanical function is also excellent. An outstanding and very collectible example of a difficult to find caliber/configuration.
