Most were configured for "Live Pigeon" shooting, in fact a Pigeon was usually engraved on each sideplate. The Monte was normally a "B" grade gun. This is the only Monte that I have seen in the High "A" grade in 40 years of collecting Scott guns. Due to age and health issues I am selling my best Scott guns. This is one of them. I will start by saying that this gun is in mostly original condition. I suspect that the barrels may have been reblacked many years ago. Probably when the non-original recoil pad was added. The finish on the stock is original. The stock appears to have been professionally cleaned because the wood is lighter than the forend. The case coloring is 98% and starting to fade in some areas. Still excellent for an 100 plus year old gun. Bores are bright and shiny. Gun is on face, no movement with or without the forend attached, This gun has the double Purdey underbolts, plus it has a hidden third fastener, This was a special order feature and basically is Scotts improved bolt concealed. Also not seen on many guns, is engine turning or "Jeweling". This is done on the locking lugs and the breech faces of the barrels. Ejectors work fine and they are "in time". Gun opens & closes like new. Tight on the face with or without the forend attached. The only reason I am not asking more money for this gun is because of the major "drop" at the heel. It is about 4 inches. This is common in older guns. If you wanted to shoot "Serious" sporting clays you could have a qualified wood man raise the comb. This gun was originally intended as a "game" gun, not a pigeon gun. It only weighs 6.5 pounds and has 26 inch BBls. This would be a High Point in any Scott collection. On the other hand it would make a great upland bird gun for someone. I am pricing this gun reasonably considering its rarity. My price is $4900. Must be shipped to an FFL. Shipping cost is $100, I will answer any questions you may have, I will also listen to reasonable offers. Jim (248) 266-6494 (PRICE REDUCED to $4200.
