General Specs: Dumoulin, Year 1944, 20 Gauge, 5lbs 7oz, Chokes SK/IC, LOP 14 1/8", DAH 2 5/8", DAC 1 7/16"
Serial Number: 75287

F. Dumoulin & Co. was a well-known Belgian gunmaker from 1894-1968.  The firearms produced by this firm varied from rifles, handguns, and shotguns of useable commercial grade, to the finest firearms ever created by the well-respected Belgium gunmakers.  This gun is the latter...one of the nicest ROUND ACTION 7-PIN SIDELOCK SIDE X SIDE  guns I have seen in years.  This gun, made in 1944, has all the "BEST GUN" features; ie. rounded action, 80% coverage vine/scroll/bouquet engraving by world renowned master engraver Leonard Smeets (Smeets was adorned as the engraver to His Majesty the King, a very important title held only by a select few), including deep relief chiseled roses on the fences and beaded fences; a sculpted frame, nicely figured European walnut stocks with a horn butt plate, stocked to the fences like a Purdey and perfect wood to metal fit; cocking indicators, articulated front trigger, double underlug locking bolts, hidden 3rd fastener at the breech, file cut rib matting, rolled edge trigger guard, articulated front trigger, blank stock shield, bushed firing pins...the list is long!  Finding comparable shotguns for sale is difficult, as most high-end Dumoulin shotguns you will see are box lock guns.  Fine gun lovers know that full sidelock, round action guns are always considerably more expensive than a like boxlock.  The condition of this gun is outstanding, with 98% beautiful case color, 99% barrel blue, perfect screws, bores, and wood-to-metal fit, fine flat-top checkering, a few light handling marks in the hand-rubbed oil finish, mechanically perfect with crisp triggers, strong well-timed ejectors, barrels tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face, no cracks or repairs…simply gorgeous with not a thing needed to make her right.  Weighing just 5lbs. 7oz. and balanced perfectly on the hinge pin, it is a delightful upland bird gun that will bring a smile to any avid double gunners face.  An English gun with these features would be hugely expensive.  This gun is being offered at a very affordable price that will make this a very good investment quality shotgun for the next owner.  It is the rare find that makes her a gun you will have to feel to fully appreciate.  Don't hesitate and thanks for looking!
