Description: General Specs: Ithaca, Year 1941, 16 Gauge, 7lbs 4oz, Chokes IC/M, LOP 13 7/8", DAH 2 5/8", DAC 1 1/2" Serial Number: 468762 What a great little Ithaca 16ga. According to Walt Snyder’s book, “The Ithaca Gun Company- From the Beginning”, there were only 45,000 Ithaca “New Ithaca Double” (NID) model guns produced from 1926 through 1949. The Ithaca NID model is the strongest action of any of the early American double gun makers with exception of the Winchester Model 21, as it has very little steel removed for the action design. If you shoot high volume or heavy magnum type loads, this gun is made for just such use. This gun, sn468762 built in 1941, is a FULLY OPTIONED GRADE 2E SKEET CONFIGURED GUN, AND IS ONE OF A TINY HANDFUL OF GUNS SO PRODUCED. Skeet configured refers to the 26" barrels with factory original IC/M (more open chokes) chokes, single selective trigger (factory original Miller style trigger), beavertail forend, ejectors, high stock dimensions, factory butt pad, and deluxe wood. It remains in excellent condition with 98% factory blue on the barrels, 90% vivid factory case colors, mirror bores, and excellent mechanics. The wood finish had the "crackling" going on that many Ithaca guns have, so we restored the wood finish. Balanced perfectly on the hinge pin this is a delightful gun in hand for upland carry or clay targets. Examine the photos closely and you will see how amazing this find is, with perfect screws, sharp clear engraving, vivid case color, fantastic figured wood with perfect checkering and no flaws...nothing not to like. Ithaca double guns with rare features, small gauges, and high condition are the very best investment guns in this market as they are seriously undervalued compared to other vintage American makers. A Parker GHE (grade 2 in the Parker line up) 16ga. Skeet gun would sell for close to $20K in this condition, if you could find one. A great gun to shoot and enjoy while it increases in value.
