Description:
General Specs: LC Smith, Year 1926, 410 Gauge, 6lbs 6oz, Chokes F/F, LOP 14 1/4", DAH 2 1/4", DAC 1 1/2"
Serial Number: FW93277

There was a total of only 2500 L.C. Smith Field Grade .410's made, and only 1000 had the more desirable 28” barrels as this gun has.  Serial number FW93277 made in 1926 by Hunter Arms Co., is a 100% condition gun.  Most of the .410's being offered for sale are well worn, have short stocks, short barrels, butt pads, etc. that make them less desirable.  A gun like this one is unique and certainly the best example you will find for sale.  This fine Elsie has had the metal fully restored to new and has been restocked to perfection with EXHIBITION QUALITY WALNUT.  The checkering pattern and SKEET STYLE BEAVERTAIL FOREARM are historically correct to proper L.C. Smith specifications.  Of course, the quality of the wood is not.  It is some of the most beautiful wood figure I have seen in American walnut.  Vintage American double shotguns are highly sought after, being great financial assets that grow in value as you enjoy their use for fowl and clays.  Those choosing the small-bore guns as their passion choose from a minute pool of guns, as the .410 bore is a low production gun that is hard to find in any condition.  In fact, of the prominent American makers, only Parker, Ithaca, and L.C. Smith made their shotguns in the diminutive .410.  Most are aware that the Parker fetches well over the $20,000 mark, and for some reason the Ithaca has a smaller following.  That leaves the L.C. Smith, America's only commercially successful sidelock action available in the .410 bore, as the most desirable and affordable of the American small bores.  The best guns for your collection and for investment are always going to be high condition guns representing the best of their kind with desirable features like long barrels, gorgeous wood, and graceful beavertail forearm, especially on .410 bore guns.  There is always a buyer for these .410 American doubles.  With the superb restoration done to this gun, bringing her to factory new condition with finishes identical to the L.C. Smith factory finishes, a proper restock with excellent checkering, and nicely figured wood with the 28” barrels choked F/F, 3” chambers, great stock dimensions, and the graceful Skeet style beavertail, this gun has it all.  The mechanics are excellent, and bores are clean and shiny, and there are no flaws to be found in this gun.  You would be hard pressed to find a better deal on such a gun in the next 5 years, especially if you need a longer stock.  Thanks for looking.
