Description:
VERY FINE CONDITION, EARLY 1895 SADDLE RING CARBINE, CALIBER .30-40, #32XXX, MADE 1901. It is very difficult to find 1895 carbines with the handguards intact and good blue overall- especially in early examples. This one which recently came out of Arizona has excellent stock, forend and handguard showing all matching coloration, tight wood to metal fit and no cracks or major dings etc. Has the correct carbine ladder rear sight and sling ring. Excellent screws and receiver markings with no extra holes. Barrel blue is fine and deep with some wear only toward the muzzle. Even the barrel band retains much fine blue. The receiver shows good bright blue with thinning/mixing gray mainly on the top portion and receiver ring. The bolt retains excellent deep blue as does most of the magazine. Correct trap in butt plate for cleaning rods. Tight action, bore is fine with good rifling and some light roughness toward the middle section that ought to clean better with a good brushing and application of J-B bore paste. This was a favorite of the Texas and Arizona Rangers. A great, early example.
