SCARCE Allen & Wheelock SIDEHAMMER .32 Revolver
1860s Spur Trigger Sidearm with Walnut Grips!
Here we present an antique Allen & Wheelock Sidehammer Third Issue Revolver in .32 Rimfire, made circa 1860 in Worcester, Massachusetts. There we 8 different variants of this revolver made between 1858 and 1865, and only 1,500 are thought to have been made total, making this a very scarce little revolver. The most immediately eye-catching feature on this revolver is the side-mounted hammer on the right side of the gun. This little spur trigger features a 6-shot cylinder and no evidence of a cylinder scene. Marked on the left side flat of the octagon barrel is “ALLEN & WHEELOCK. WORCESTER MS.US/ALLEN’S PATENTS SEPT.7 NOV.9 1858” and on the left side of the frame forward of the cylinder is marked “JULY 3 1860”.
The overall condition is very good. The bore is semi-bright with nice rifling. The action is excellent. Here is a very nice example of an exceedingly scarce Allen & Wheelock Sidehammer Revolver!
