Influenced by the design of the Winchester Model 1890, John D. Pederson designed and Remington started producing the Model 12 Pump Action .22 Caliber Rimfire Rifle in 1909. The internal hammer receiver made this rifle look more sleek and efficient. Eventually Winchester replicated the internal hammer design for use in their model 1890 and others.
The stock has a straight grip and crescent (concave) butt plate adding to the model 12 an "old time look and feel". The most loved feature is the 24" octagon barrel making it a true vintage rifle. The large screw head on the left side of the receiver is the take-down release key for seperating the butt stock & trigger group from the barrel & receiver group.
Based on the model features of this rifle and the documentation information used to identify the sub-model; 12A, B, C, D, E, or F, it is not possible to pinpoint the exact sub-model of this rifle. The mechanicism and function of all models is the same. The sub-model letters identify options that were available for the base Model 12. Doesn't matter !
What is important is the cosmetic and mechanics of this rifle. It cycles and shoots accurately as it should. The blueing has no peeling or damage but has a couple small imperfect spots on the barrel. The remainder of the finish is intact. The wood is in good condition with only one small blemish. Wood finish is very good. This rifle has all of the original parts including the barrel which has the date stamp of LY (1930). The receiver serial number is 798948. Comes with soft zippered carry case. Red stand in pictures is not included.
