This is one of the best Doctor's Dolls I have seen. This one is carved from a large piece of
natural Ivory. There are facsimilies being made today from bone and resin. They are much smaller as a rule.
The doctors dolls were you when asian women visited the doctor. They were able to show by pointing or touching the doll where there
problems were. In this way they did not have to expose themselves during the exam. These date back to the 1800's and possibly farther
back.
This is a large example measuring over 8 inches on a 10 inch especially carved rosewood stand. Has a missing foot but still shows very well because that leg is hidden. Also a natural crack calf on the same leg .
Found knock offs on another sight for 100-200. The real deals were priced at 1200-1500...
