Rare Lindsay U.S. model 1863 2-shot rifled musket, .58 caliber. Approximately 1,000 made from 1863-1864, unusual 2-shot superposed load. This Lindsay musket is in excellent condition. The metal components overall are untouched, smooth and clean. The bore is mirror bright with strong grooves. Clear, crisp markings on top of the breech. Mechanics are tight. The stock is in great shape, no cracks, just expected age-handling wear. The ramrod channel has one small 1/2" surface chip. Two strong cartouches on the left side. Original 2-leaf rear sight. Original swivels and barrel bands stamped with "H" on one side and "U" on the other. Buttplate stamped "U.S.". Original tulip-head ramrod. Due to its low survival rate, makes this a scarce Civil War musket!
