Description:
HOUSTON, TEXAS Marked SHARPS .50 Caliber RIFLE

Big Bore, Heavy Barrel Percussion Rifle!

Here we present an antique Heavy Barreled .50 Caliber Percussion Sharps Rifle Marked “E. SCHMIDT & CO. HOUSTON TEXAS”. This rifle was almost certainly a military rifle in its factory configuration. What makes this one extremely interesting and desirable is that it has been rebarreled with a stout, round, .50 caliber tube. Front sight is a fine post and dot with a protective hood, while the rear is a buckhorn with an elevation adjustable ladder. The forearm was custom made for the heavy barrel and has a pewter tip. E. Schmidt & Co. were dealers out of Houston, Texas during the Sharps rifle’s heyday. This company put their name on very few firearms. This rifle is a cannon. Chamber is about 2-5/16 inches.

The overall condition is near fine. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The action is excellent.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 30 inches.

Caliber: .50 (about .5035 from land to land)

Overall condition as seen in photos.
