SCARCE AMES U.S. MODEL 1833 DRAGOON SABER DATED 1836. 39 ½” o/a with 34” distinctive quill back blade engraved in front of the guard “N. P. AMES/CUTLER/SPRINGFIELD/1836”. Government Inspector’s stamp “JM” on blade and quillon. Left side of blade engraved “UNITED STATES” in script above an engraved panel of laurel leaves. All original including the leather washer. Partial wear and loss to leather grip wrap. Original brass wire. Blade and engraving are in excellent condition.
