This Smith & Wesson Model 29-2 .44 Magnum has the seldom seen 6 inch barrel length. In 1979 the standard barrel length was changed from 6 1/2 inches to 6 inches so the 6 inch pinned barrel was only available for just over 2 years of the total 21 years of Model 29-2 production. During 1982 the Model 29-3 engineering change eliminated the pinned barrel and counter boring the cylinder. This pinned and recessed, 6 inch, Model 29 is both collectable and desirable in its bright nickel finish. The timing is good and the lockup is tight. They just don’t make them like this anymore.
