This is a 1904-made rifle that has most of the original blue finish remaining on the barrel and 1/2 magazine tube. There is some very mild silvering at the muzzle, as well as some of the high edges and bearing surfaces. The frame retains about 70-75% of the original blue with most of the loss occurring on the left side and underneath where the blue has flaked to a mild gray-brown, and on the underside of the barrel from the takedown lever. The hammer and lever retain most of their original, vivid color case-hardening. The walnut stock and forend have only some negligible handling marks and surface blemishes in the otherwise nearly pristine finish, although there is evidence of some mild sanding just at the edge of the buttplate toe which itself has a nearly imperceptible repair. The front sight is a Lyman low-profile sporting bead, and both a folding Lyman barrel sight, and tang peep sight are also installed. The barrel to frame lock-up is tight, and the rifle rates fine-near excellent condition overall. Included with the rifle is a Cody Data Sheet that confirms the barrel length, and lists the rifle as being “Extra Light" with plain trigger, shotgun butt (rubber), 1/2 magazine, takedown, and was shipped from the warehouse on August 7, 1905, with a return on November 14 of the same year. Rifles like this that don’t display more hard use are very hard to find indeed.
