RARE SWISS VETTERLI MODEL 1871 CAVALRY OR ARTILLERY CARBINE. Serial number "146218". 41Swiss caliber. 39.5" overall with 21" barrel(mint mirror finish bore and crisp rifling). All matching parts serial numbered to receiver. "Waffenfabrik" over "Bern" over serial number. Canton stamp on stock forward of slightly curved buttplate. Short carbine size rear sight and barrel mounted front. Front band with carbine style U shaped large sling swivel. Rear sling swivel. Correct lack of rear barrel band. Cycles flawlessly. All original arsenal finish and stock never sanded. Square forend checkering crisp. Wood solid with NO cracks or structural issues. Some scratches and typical gouges very few(unlike most that were thrown into piles over the years). Fun addition to Vetterli collection as rare and hard to find carbine especially in this nice a condition. Not a cutdown.
