FIRST YEAR H. ASTON U.S. MODEL 1842 PERCUSSION PISTOL DATED 1846 (MEXICAN WAR). All original with matching barrel and lock dates and in superb original condition. Lock stamped “MIDDTN/CONN/1846” and “H. ASTON”. Barrel tang dated “1846”. Barrel breech stamped “U.S./JCB/P”. Excellent condition with much of the bright polish and excellent markings. Screws and triggers with most of the original blue. Stock with the original finish and two perfect inspectors cartouches. Old period initials “AM” carved forward of the trigger guard. Mint bore and perfect working order. Rare early Mexican War and in really superior condition not usually seen except on the 1850 and 1851 dated Model 1842’s.
