1858 Dated Antique SPANISH Percussion BLUNDERBUSS
Made for Close Quarters Combat in the Mid-19th Century!
Here we present an antique Spanish Military Percussion Blunderbuss, made circa 1858. This short and handy blaster was made during a period that was characterized by turmoil within Spain as well as without. Spain was fighting to keep their colonies under control in the Chincha Islands War, a 2-year conflict with Peru and Chile, as well as the Ten Years War with Cuba. The Third Carlist War was an internal struggle which saw the monarchy temporarily cast out as the First Republic was established.
This blunderbuss bears government markings throughout and is dated “1858”. It would have been used for close quarters fighting such as on a naval ship in the mid-19th Century.
The overall condition is good. The underside of the forestock has been repaired. The bore is dark. The action is strong.
