Caliber is 22 SHORT. 23-1/2 inch round #1 barrel is hand-stamped "3-19-38." Of course this bore has seen a lot of use, but it is still bright. No provisions for a forearm. Has marks on stock and metal consistent with being clamped down to a bench. 90% blue on left side of frame, right side is 75% blue with wear marks. Barrel has 80% blue with localized wear patterns. Rifle buttplate. Lyman beaded front and a Marbles rear sight. Factory letter states it was shipped in 1901, then returned and repaired in 1908, 1909 and 1910. Would make an interesting display piece for the low wall or ammo collector. Leroy Merz Antique Firearms specializes in antique and vintage Winchesters and other fine American firearms.
