Master Engraver, David W. Harris; Important DW Harris Signed and Engraved Remington Rand 1911 A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol. Serial no. 1292823, .45 caliber, 5-inch barrel. Nickel-plated finish. Extensively American scroll engraving by Harris throughout gun. Beautiful work borders around serial number, model designation and address. Fitted with ivory grips with Texas longhorn inserts of both sides with the initials R / R. Pistol is signed DW HARRIS on right side of frame near the slide and hammer. This exact gun is featured on D.W. Harris’ as a premium example of his work. The gun has graced the cover of several major houses over the years as a premier piece in their . It sold last in December of 2015 at Rock Island for $10,000. We have listed the 1911 at a price that should give the new owner instant equity. Note: Texas engraver David Wade Harris, who is still active in Granbury, TX, learned his craft from Weldon Bledsoe who learned the Cattle Brand design from Cole Agee. Condition: Fine to excellent as refinished at time of engraving. Retaining approximately 99% nickel-plated finish with just minor blemishes and fine scratches to finish. Grips with light wear and fine scratches from storage and handling. Action crisp. Good bore with strong rifling. This is an eminently shootable work of art from a nationally known engraving artist with strong ties to the Colt fraternity. A great investment and a Model 1911 to be proud of. Thanks for looking!
