#23288, A German Suhl Made Vierling Quad Barrel 16 x 16 x 8-57JR x 22 Hornet, Made in 1937, Best quality 300 series action body with double underlugs with double bite, Side-clip action body, Bolstered frame, Scalloped action back, 23 5/8" Krupp Steel barrels with a rib extension & cross bolt with the 16 bore barrels at .663 .028 & .x029" (Full & Full), 2 3/4" chambers, Claw mounts with a rail mounted 1.5 x 6 Hensoldt quality scope with a fine dot reticle, Set front trigger for the rifle barrels, Top tang lever that selects the shot barrels or the rifle barrels - to the right it is shot & to the left it is rifle, When you select the rifle barrels it actuates the rear sight, On the left side of the action is a up/down selector slide that picks the rifle barrel - Up it selects the top rifle barrel (22 Hornet) and down the 8x57 barrel, Sling swivels, Shadowline cheekpiece, Horn trigger guard, 13 1/4" lop over a 1" pad but it comes with a leather strap-on extension, 7 lbs. 8 oz. without the scope and 8 lbs. 12 oz. with, 95% coverage of very accurate game scenes with excellent scroll engraving, The barrels have been reblacked and now remain at 98%, I believe it has original stock finish at 85%, The original checkering is at 90-92%, The 16 bore barrels remain in very good condition, The 8x57 barrel is very good condition, The 22 Hornet barrel remains in excellent plus condition. What is nice about this piece is that the 8x57 & 22 Hornet barrels shoot to the same point of impact. This Suhl made Drilling still has a lot of its mechanical life left, it is tight and, on the face, and is a solid piece. This quality gun represents all the fine features of a Classic Pre-War Suhl made Vierling.
